| The latest revision to the Waja as scooped earlier this week is the new Proton Waja Campro 1.6 Premium (CPS) as it is officially called, and these are the official details. Let’s have a look at the equipment level first before we get to the juicy CPS stuff. The Waja Campro 1.6 Premium (CPS) comes with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed auto. It has electrically foldable remote wing mirrors, front seats with three-way adjustable headrests (up, down and tilt), leather seats all around, a gated automatic shifter for the automatic transmission model, new center panel switches, a keyless trunk remote system, ABS brakes, fog lamps, twin tailpipes and projector Xenon headlamps with automatic headlamp levelling. Perhaps the most interesting update to this Premium CPS Waja is like its namesake, the Campro CPS engine. This engine has been eagerly awaited by many, as the current Campro has often been referred to the “Campro without Campro” - there was no cam profile switching involved. With the new S4PH Campro CPS, there is. This is how the new Proton Campro CPS works. The CPS system integrated both cam profile switching (CPS) and a variable intake manifold (VIM). VIM switches between a long intake manifold at low RPMs and a short intake manifold at higher RPMs. According to Proton, a longer intake manifold is used at low RPMs to achieve slower air flow; this promotes better mixing with fuel. The short intake manifold allows more air in faster. This is beneficial at high RPMs. This seems to be slightly different compared to the usual VIM system where intake manifold width is also varied to control air velocity, and velocity tries to be maximised, but the idea behind the CPS VIM seems to be not wanting the air to go in as fast as possible at low revs to promote air-fuel mixture? Whatever it is, it seems to work, as the VIM does not stand alone but works with all the other engine systems together over different RPMs. The CPS system uses a switching tappet and a trilobe camshaft to switch between two different cam profiles. One cam profile provides low valve lift, while the other cam profile has a high valve lift. The low valve lift cam profile is used at engine speeds of under 3,800rpm to maintain idling smoothness and ensure lower emissions, while the high lift cam profile is used when the engine is spinning more than 3,800rpm to improve peak horsepower and torque. Using this two performance-improving systems, Campro CPS engine basically runs in three modes at any one time: Engine Speed CPS VIM 0 to 3,800rpm Low Lift Long Runner 3,800rpm to 4,800rpm High Lift Long Runner Above 4,800rpm High Lift Short Runner The result is 125 horsepower (93kW) at 6,000rpm and 150Nm of torque at 4,500rpm compared to the non-CPS Campro’s 110 horsepower (82kW) at 6,000rpm and 148Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Engine displacement is 1,597cc, bore and stroke is 76mm x 88mm and the compression ratio is 10.0:1. To handle the higher power and torque output, the Campro CPS engine has an additional oil cooler. I drove the car earlier this week but did not really go very far, only got up to 2nd gear on the manual tranmission and did not even rev up to the redline - whatever short impression I had was quite good indeed. I am quite eager to test drive the new CPS-equipped Proton Waja and cannot wait to bring you my findings. The new Proton Waja Campro 1.6 Premium (CPS) is priced at RM61,888 for the manual transmission version, while the one with the automatic transmission is priced at RM64,888. It comes in six colours: bronze garnet, blue agate, iridescent white, twilight blue, metal gray and burgundy. Standard warranty is 2 years, but it also comes with an Extended Warranty Program, extending total warranty to 5 years. Let’s hope that after this we will be able to see a new Waja - the Saga was the first Proton and the Waja was the first non-Mitsubishi-based Proton. We don’t want to see a similiar product lifecycle with the Saga do we? | |

| Proton Perdana Replacement Model Artist’s Impression based on Mitsubishi Galant I was thinking the other day about how the Proton Perdana V6 and the Proton Arena are pretty much the only Proton cars from the old generation still on sale now, with the old Saga having being replaced recently by a second generation model that has been rather well accepted by the public. Before the Volkswagen-Proton talks collapsed, many have been speculating that the next generation Proton Perdana replacement nodel could be a badge engineered Volkswagen Passat. There were many good artist’s impressions of a Proton-badged Volkswagen, mostly based on the long wheel base Skoda Superb. Now that that deal is off, we will have to look at the current Mitsubishi Galant/Mitsubishi 380 to see what the new Proton Perdana could end up like, as developing a Perdana on Proton’s own is definitely not very financially viable. Proton previously entered into a technical partnership agreement with Mitsubishi, but we have not really seen any obvious results from that yet, as it looks like it is still at exploratory stages. So yes, getting to the point of this post, I asked Theophilus Chin if he could whip up a second generation Proton Perdana replacement for us to admire and imagine. It’s basically a Mitsubishi Galant/Mitsubishi 380 with styling derived from the 2nd generation Proton Saga. Do you like it? A Proton Perdana based on the Mitsubishi Galant could come with a 2.4 liter inline-4 engine, probably the 4G69 which makes 160hp at 5,500rpm and has a maximum torque of 212Nm at 4,000rpm If you’re interested in taking a trip back to the past, read the posts below back from 2005, and 2006 when Proton was still in talks with foreign partners: mainly PSA Peugeot Citroen, Volkswagen and a bit of Mitsubishi. | Proton Waja CPS 1.6 now in showrooms! I have just returned from a Proton Edar showroom in the neighbourhood and snapped photos of the new Proton Waja CPS to share with you. The showroom I visited only had the manual version on display, so you will not be able to see the new gated shifter in detail but then again you’ve already seen it in my previous spyshot post, so not too much of a loss there. Showrooms have started taking bookings for the new Proton Waja CPS beginning today, and prices are supposed to top out at about RM65K for the automatic version. Let’s have a look at the Waja CPS photos after the jump. Click here to read the rest of Proton Waja CPS 1.6 now in showrooms! | |

| Subject: Proton Satria Neo among Parker’s top 10 slowest depreciating 6th February 2008, 11:00 pm | |
| Parker’s is a car price guide in the UK started back in 1972. According to the latest Parker’s guide, the Proton Satria Neo was placed within the top ten slowest depreciating cars for 2007 in the UK. According to Parker’s, desirability, reliability, style, reputation and mileage as well as the original cost are all key factors in determining how much a brand new car is likely to depreciate in value. “Proton might not be one of the obvious brands people think of when it comes to cars that lose cash slowly. But the fact that the Satria Neo is a new model and is relatively inexpensive in the first place means drivers haven’t lost much money to depreciation during the first year of ownership, which is a pleasant surprise for anyone who has one on their drive,” says Kieren Puffet, Editor for Parker’s. | |

| Subject: Proton Saga: 23,000 bookings, 5 month wait! 6th February 2008, 11:04 pm | |
| Bookings for the new Proton Saga “mark II” has reached a total of over 23,000 and the waiting period for delivery is now between 5 to 6 months. This is another sales success for Proton, right after the Proton Persona, which just goes to show that if the right car is produced for the right market and at the right price (something which Proton enjoys in our market), cars will fly off the shelves. Of this 23,000, over 9,000 units were from EON outlets, and EON’s recent EON Karnival 2008 in Shah Alam saw over 300 potential customers getting to test drive the new Proton Saga to get a first hand touch and feel of the new Proton sedan. Right car, right market, right price - the only thing that remains to be seen now is whether it has the right build quality. Having a special kitted up version of each new model launch has been a tradition now, and I hope this continues. The Proton Saga “RED” Concept features a nice metallic red paintwork, a black roof, nice light grey grill surrounds, and large wheels, complete with a minimal tyre to fender gap. The interior gets a two-tone black and grey design, with red door trim, red seats and a grey-red trimmed steering wheel. Check out more photos after the jump. | |

| Subject: Proton Saga “GTi” Artist’s Impression and more! 6th February 2008, 11:10 pm | |
| The Proton Saga is still quite a hot conversation topic right now, as it is the latest and most affordable brand new 3-box sedan on the market to date. Here is Theophilus Chin’s artist’s impression of a kitted up Proton Saga - it looks very similiar to the Proton Saga RED Concept actually but it was actually done before the RED Concept was unveiled. The Saga “GTi” Concept as Theophilus wishes to call it has a revised front grille that features a blackened area and a chrome top, a revised front bumper with an air intake beneath the grille with a chrome spoiler lip, different fog lamp housings, an Audi-like aluminium side mirror with lower half in matte black, and a blackened B-pillar. The headlamps have smaller turn indicators and the wheels are bigger. You will find after the jump more photos of the Proton Saga that I snapped at the press preview held before the launch. Enjoy! | |

| Subject: New Perodua Kembara Replacement due mid-2008 6th February 2008, 11:19 pm | |
| Perodua managing director Datuk Syed Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar indicated in a report by The Edge that we will see the launch of the new Perodua Kembara replacement model this year. The new Kembara will logically be based on the new Daihatsu Bego/Toyota Rush, and Perodua targets modest sales of about 300 units per month as they are going to focus on the Viva instead. The Kembara will not be a high volume seller for them. Just a recap - the Daihatsu Bego or Toyota Rush that the new Perodua Kembara replacement is expected to be based on is powered by a 1.5 liter DVVT engine, similiar to the unit in the Toyota Avanza 1.5. It has a full time all wheel drive system. It first appeared as a concept car called the Daihatsu D-Compact 4X4 Concept. Shown above is an artist’s impression of the new Kembara previously posted here, or browse the links listed below for more information on the small SUV. Toyota Rush Long Wheelbase suitable for Malaysia?UPDATE #3: The 7-seater Toyota Rush has been launched in Malaysia! - Click for details, specifications, photos and pricing. UPDATE #2: The long wheelbase version of the Toyota Rush has been spotted being transported on trailers in Malaysia! Click here to view spyshots. UPDATE: Perodua has announced that a new Kembara will be launched in mid-2008. It is expected that the new Perodua Kembara replacement will be based on the Daihatsu Bego/Toyota Rush. Click here for more details. In Malaysia, Toyota seems to be missing a model in the small monocoque SUV segment, an area currently dominated by models such as the Honda CR-V and the Ford Escape. The current Toyota RAV4 is just too expensive as it is a CBU import. One model that might be able to fit that area but not exactly because of engine size is the Toyota Rush, but most of us are hoping that it will come to Malaysia as a Perodua Kembara replacement model. However, in the past with certain models that have both a Daihatsu and a Toyota model (a strategy the Toyota group has used in neighbouring countries like Indonesia), Malaysia has seen it introduced as a Toyota instead, perhaps because of Toyota’s stronger badge value. Stick a Toyota badge on anything and it will sell because of Toyota’s reputation for perceived reliability and the trust the automobile-buying public has for the company. We’re talking about the Toyota Avanza as a case study, which also has a Daihatsu-badged sibling called the Daihatsu Xenia. While we might have the Rush come in as a Perodua to replace the Kembara, let’s not discount the fact that it could possibly come in as a Perodua-assembled Toyota instead (as the Avanza is now). Now many will argue that the Rush is too compact to be a Toyota, but there is actually a long wheelbase version of the Toyota Rush that is sold as a 5+2 seater vehicle. The normal wheelbase Bego/Terios/Toyota Rush has a wheelbase of 2,580mm but this stretched Indonesian version has a wheelbase of 2,685mm! There is a historical precedent, as Daihatsu Indonesia’s Taruna F-series was a stretched 5+2 Terios! Compared to the new Honda CR-V, the CR-V has a shorter wheelbase of 2,620mm. The engine still remains as a Daihatsu-based 1.5 liter VVT-i though, the same 3SZ-VE unit as the one currently in the Toyota Avanza 1.5 making 109 PS at 6,000rpm and 141Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. The short wheelbase version was recently awarded 4X4 Magazine’s 4X4 of the Year 2007 award, and according to 4X4 Magazine, “was the only one whose character stood out compared to it’s competitors, invoking the image of a cross-country adventure.” So yes, imagine 5+2 seating similar to the Avanza, with sub-RM100K price tag, and a Toyota badge. Do you think it’ll sell? Check out more photos and watch a video and after the jump. New Daihatsu Terios announced in Indonesia UPDATE: Perodua has announced that a new Kembara will be launched in mid-2008. It is expected that the new Perodua Kembara replacement will be based on the Daihatsu Bego/Toyota Rush. Click here for more details. The production of the new Toyota Rush and Daihatsu Terios will start soon in Indonesia, and both will be produced in Daihatsu’s assembly plant. Selling the same model under two different badges in the same country seems to work well in Indonesia, where the Toyota Avanza/Daihatsu Xenia have achieved sales of 200,000 units since 2003. Now that Indonesia has the new Terios, when will Perodua update it’s aging Kembara model? The new Terios was recently awarded 4X4 Magazine’s 4X4 Of The Year 2007 Award. I already have a few friends holding back their car purchases in eager anticipation of the new Kembara, if it ever happens. With it’s mini RAV4 looks, I’m sure it will be a runaway success like the Myvi. 2006 Daihatsu Be-GoThe Daihatsu Be-Go is the production version of the Daihatsu D-Compact 4×4 which I’ve blogged about before. From concept to production in such a short time. The D-Compact 4X4 was shown at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show, and months later it’s already shown as a production car at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show. UPDATE: Perodua has announced that a new Kembara will be launched in mid-2008. It is expected that the new Perodua Kembara replacement will be based on the Daihatsu Bego/Toyota Rush. Click here for more details. The Daihatsu Be-Go is a compact 4X4, and will likely replace the Daihatsu Terios in it’s car line-up. That means we’ll see it on Malaysian roads one day as a Perodua to replace the Perodua Kembara, which was based on the current Daihatsu Terios. So this post should interest you guys quite a bit. At first glance, it looks like the design was recycled from the outgoing second generation Toyota RAV4. But no matter, the 2nd generation Toyota RAV4 looks great and until today it still doesn’t look dated on the roads. The Daihatsu Be-Go is powered by a 1.5 liter DOHC 16 valve DVVT engine. They’ve called it the “TOPAZ” engine. This is a newly developed engine, also seen in the Daihatsu Copen ZZ. This engine makes 103hp at 6000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 4400rpm. The engine is mated to a full time 4WD system with a centre differential lock. The compact SUV has a kerb weight of 1190kg. Interior looks good… there’s a wooden trim MOMO steering there which I’m not sure whether will reach the production versions. The meter panel design doesn’t differ much from the 2nd generation Toyota RAV4 | |

| Kalu nak kuasa lebih pakai high cam trus....Twin injector 12hole. air box oversize tambah ram air...gearing bagi nisbah yg rapat2 mcm moto superbike slalu pakai...top cepat dapat....nak jimat minyak matikan 1 injector bila da gila kuasa bukak 2 injector...tapi kalu rase tak puas jgk pakai je suzuki hayabusa 1.3 tak pon kawasaki zx14. dijamin pantas. enjin kete mmg dibuat untuk dapat kuasa tork yg tinggi tetapi untuk dapat kelajuan maksima terpaksa dikorbankan... tork yg tinggi perlu untk mengerakkan beban kete yg berat tu...jadi gerek enjin lebih kecil dari lejang... putaran enjin tak tinggi sebab tu korang tgk meter rpm kete biasa sampai 8k je.. berlainan dgn enjin motosikal gerek lebih besar dari lejang bermakna enjin lebih cepat melengkapkan 1kitaran 4lejang,putaran enjin lebih laju maka rpm yg selalu kite tgk kat meter motosikal sampai 14~15ribu rpm ade yg sampai 20 ribu rpm....lagi laju enjin berputar lagi banyak guna minyak lagi laju la kenderaan anda tapi tak jimat la minyak... nak laju mana bleh jimat minyak...sapa kata laju tapi minyak bleh jimat tu auta je... tapi pada aku guna petrol mmg tak jimat...letak la alat jimat ape pon mmg tak jimat...sok petrol abis nak guna ape??alkohol bleh guna tapi tak baik untuk enjin. Minyak sawit jgk yg best.. mungkin 1 hari nanti minyak sawit bleh ganti diesel 100% tak paya campur dgn diesel petroleum mcm skang ni...jadi kebergantungan kepada petroleum dapat dikurangkan.
......sori la pagirl aku busan ni tak da org jdi ni la yg aku wat hahah.. | |
